Calling All Youth Artists! Grades Pre K-12 for the 2nd Annual Gallery of Youth

Last year’s very first Gallery of Youth event was a huge success.  The event raised $2,000 for the Art Department at the Pepin Area Schools!  It also inspired kids to explore and move forward with their creative talents.  This fundraiser allows the students to be involved first hand by creating their own artwork, donating it to Gallery of Youth and it turning a profit to directly benefit art students of the Pepin Area Schools.  100% of Profits are donated!  The event allowed us to reach out beyond the Pepin community attracting art lovers and community supporters.  We even shipped artwork to 5 different states by selling it on in order to turn more profits with a wider art-40

We are looking for original works of art to be donated.  These works may include 2D drawings, paintings or collage, 3D sculpture, weaving, poetry, photography and even crayon drawings or doodles!  Artwork may be of serious or silly nature, but we do ask that it be an original creation by the student.  No licensed artwork will be accepted (ie:  Dr. Seuss or Disney reproductions, name brands, etc.)  Students may submit multiple works of art, but due to growing interest we may have to limit our final choices to just a couple of pieces per student.  We may choose to turn artwork into prints, greeting cards or sell as originals.

The 2nd Annual Gallery of Youth will once again take place at The Breakwater in Pepin, March 31 and April 1.  Fri, March 31 will be the opening night and celebration for students and their families to view their artwork.  The sale will continue all day on Sat, April 1.  There will also be special prizes for the winning artists.

Area businesses or individuals may sponsor the program by donating funds for printing, matting and framing, donating gift certificates for raffle or food & drink for the opening gala.  Art supplies or mentoring would also be a welcome donation.

***Artwork may be submitted to Sarah Smith or Art Teacher Lori Pesic.  All Artwork must be submitted by Monday, March 13 so that it can be prepared for sale.
